A new digital banking platform for Westpac

Westpac is Australia’s first bank and oldest company, one of four major banking organisations in Australia and one of the largest banks in New Zealand. Westpac provides a broad range of consumer, business and institutional banking, and wealth management services through a portfolio of financial services brands and businesses.

In 2016, Westpac received the highest overall score in the Global Mobile Banking Functionality Benchmark report by Forrester, one of the world’s most prestigious research and advisory firms. Westpac is at the forefront of digital banking, competing on a world stage. We also have a long-standing relationship with them– after all this is where the core team started.

Our role

As long-standing collaborators with Westpac, we are often asked to complement their existing teams, working on strategic projects.

One of the pillars of Westpac’s growth strategy is expansion into Asia, a market which has stringent regulatory frameworks surrounding IT systems. Westpac chose Backbase CxP as the basis for its first customer self-service platform for Asian customers.

The program provides full-service internet banking functionality for the complex needs of corporate and institutional banking. Digizoo were engaged to work with Westpac and Backbase to implement this.

Deliverables

Digizoo complimented the Westpac team(s) to:

  • Drive a culture of modern technology and agile implementation, innovating on the existing delivery techniques
  • Implement the Backbase CxP proof of concept for Asian institutional partners; including front-end development, security, and introducing a modern software platform.
